7 And one of the four living creatures gave to the seven Angels seven golden bowls, filled with the wrath of God, of the One who lives forever and ever.
8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the majesty of God and from his power. And no one was able to enter into the temple, until the seven afflictions of the seven Angels were completed.

2 And the first Angel went forth and poured out his bowl upon the earth. And a severe and most grievous wound occurred upon the men who had the character of the beast, and upon those who adored the beast or its image.
3 And the second Angel poured out his bowl upon the sea. And it became like the blood of the dead, and every living creature in the sea died.

While staying at Pisa, on a Sunday, having been refreshed with the heavenly food and caught up in ecstasy, she saw the Lord crucified approaching with great light, and from the scars of his wounds five rays descending to five places on her body. Perceiving the mystery, she prayed to the Lord that the scars might not appear; and immediately the rays, their blood-red color changed to brilliant white, came in the form of pure light to her hands, feet, and heart. So great, indeed, was the pain which she sensibly endured, though the bloody signs of the wounds did not appear, that she believed she would die in a short time, had not God lessened it. Her learning was infused, not acquired. Setting out for Avignon to Pope Gregory the Eleventh, she showed him that she had known by divine revelation his secret vow to go to Rome, known to God alone, and was the occasion of the Pontiff's going in person to the Roman See. In about the thirty-third year of her age she went to her Spouse. Pius the Second enrolled her in the number of holy Virgins.

Módicum est hoc totum spátium, quo præsens pérvolat sǽculum. Unde dicit idem ipse Evangelísta in Epístola sua: Novíssima hora est. Ideo namque áddidit: Quia vado ad Patrem: quod ad priórem senténtiam referéndum est, ubi ait: Módicum et iam non vidébitis me: non ad posteriórem, ubi ait: Et íterum módicum, et vidébitis me. Eúndo quippe ad Patrem, factúrus erat ut eum non vidérent. For by going to the Father, he was about to cause them not to see him. And therefore it was not said because he was about to die and, until he rose again, would withdraw from their sight; but because he was going to the Father — which he did after he rose, and, having conversed with them for forty days, ascended into heaven.

This little time seems long to us, because it is still passing; when it has ended, then we shall feel how little it was. Therefore let our joy not be such as the world has, of whom it was said: But the world shall rejoice. Nor yet, in the travail of this longing, let us be sad without joy: but, as the Apostle says: Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation: because even the woman in travail, to whom we have been compared, rejoices more at the birth soon to come than she is saddened by the pain of the present moment. But let this be the end of this sermon: for what follows contains a most troublesome question, nor is it to be compressed into brevity, so that, if the Lord wills, it may be more suitably explained.
