1 Vísio Isaíæ fílii Amos, quam vidit super Iudam et Ierúsalem, in diébus Ozíæ, Ióatham, Achaz, et Ezechíæ, regum Iuda.
2 Audíte, cæli, et áuribus pércipe, terra, quóniam Dóminus locútus est: Fílios enutrívi, et exaltávi: ipsi autem sprevérunt me.
3 Cognóvit bos possessórem suum, et ásinus præsépe dómini sui: Israël autem me non cognóvit, et pópulus meus non intelléxit.

1 The vision of Isaiah, the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem, in the days of Uzziah, Joatham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
2 Listen, O heavens, and pay attention, O earth, for the Lord has spoken. I have nurtured and raised children, but they have spurned me.
3 An ox knows his owner, and a donkey knows the manger of his lord, but Israel has not known me, and my people have not understood.

4 Woe to a sinful nation, a people burdened by iniquity, a wicked offspring, accursed children. They have forsaken the Lord; they have blasphemed the Holy One of Israel; they have turned away backward.
5 For what reason shall I continue to strike you, as you increase transgressions? Every head is faint, and every heart is sorrowful.
6 From the sole of the foot, even to the top of the head, there is no soundness within: wound, and bruise, and swelling sore — not bound up, nor treated with medicine, nor soothed with oil.

℟ Aspiciébam in visu noctis, et ecce in núbibus cæli Fílius hóminis veniébat: et datum est ei regnum, et honor:

℟ I looked in a vision of the night, and behold upon the clouds of heaven the Son of Man was coming: and to him was given kingdom, and honor:

Et omnis pópulus, tribus, et linguæ sérvient ei.

And all peoples, tribes, and tongues shall serve him.

℣ Potéstas eius, potéstas ætérna, quæ non auferétur: et regnum eius, quod non corrumpétur.

℣ His power is an everlasting power, which shall not be taken away: and his kingdom, which shall not be destroyed.

8 Et derelinquétur fília Sion ut umbráculum in vínea, et sicut tugúrium in cucumerário, et sicut cívitas quæ vastátur.

7 Your land is desolate. Your cities have been set ablaze. Foreigners devour your countryside in your presence, and it will be made desolate as if overthrown by enemies.
8 And the daughter of Zion will be left behind, like an arbor in a vineyard, and like a shelter in a cucumber field, and like a city that is laid waste.
9 If the Lord of hosts had not left us offspring, we would have been like Sodom, and we would have been made like Gomorrah.
