Psalmus 62

Psalm 62

62:8b Et in velaménto alárum tuárum exsultábo, † (9) adhǽsit ánima mea post te: * me suscépit déxtera tua.
62:10 Ipsi vero in vanum quæsiérunt ánimam meam, † introíbunt in inferióra terræ: * (11) tradéntur in manus gládii, partes vúlpium erunt.
62:12 Rex vero lætábitur in Deo, † laudabúntur omnes qui iurant in eo: * quia obstrúctum est os loquéntium iníqua.

62:2a O God, my God, * to you I keep vigil until first light.
62:2b My soul has thirsted for you, * how manifoldly for you is my flesh.
62:3 In a deserted land, both inaccessible and waterless: ‡ so I have appeared in the sanctuary before you, * that I might behold your virtue and your glory.
62:4 For your mercy is better than life itself: * my lips will praise you.
62:5 So will I bless you in my life: * and in your name I will lift up my hands.
62:6 Let my soul be filled as if with marrow and fatness: * and my mouth will give praise with exultant lips.
62:7 When I have remembered you on my bed, † in the morning I will meditate on you: * (8a) for you have been my helper.
62:8b And I will exult under the cover of your wings, † (9) my soul has clung close to you: * your right hand has supported me.
62:10 Truly, these ones have sought my soul in vain, † they will enter into the lower parts of the earth: * (11) they will be delivered into the hand of the sword; they will be the portions of foxes.
62:12 Truly, the king will rejoice in God, † all those who swear by him will be praised: * for the mouth of those who speak iniquity has been blocked.

Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.

Capitulum Hymnus Versus

Apo 21:2

Apo 21:2

Vidi civitátem sanctam, Ierúsalem novam, descendéntem de cælo a Deo, parátam sicut sponsam ornátam viro suo.

And I, John, saw the Holy City, the New Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband.

Deo grátias.

Thanks be to God.

Alto ex Olýmpi vértice
Summi Paréntis Fílius,
Ceu monte deséctus lapis
Terras in imas décidens,
Domus supérnæ et ínfimæ
Utrúmque iunxit ángulum.

Sed illa sedes cǽlitum
Semper resúltat láudibus,
Deúmque trinum et únicum
Iugi canóre prǽdicat:
Illi canéntes iúngimur
Almæ Siónis ǽmuli.

Hæc templa, Rex cæléstium,
Imple benígno lúmine:
Huc, o rogátus, ádveni,
Plebísque vota súscipe,
Et nostra corda iúgiter
Perfúnde cæli grátia.

Hic ímpetrent fidélium
Voces precésque súpplicum
Domus beátæ múnera,
Partísque donis gáudeant:
Donec, solúti córpore,
Sedes beátas ímpleant.

Decus Parénti débitum
Sit usquequáque Altíssimo,
Natóque Patris único,
Et ínclito Paráclito,
Cui laus, potéstas, glória
Ætérna sit per sǽcula.
Amen.

From highest heaven, the Father's Son,
Descending like that mystic stone
Cut from a mountain without hands,
Came down below, and filled all lands;
Uniting, midway in the sky,
His house on earth, and house on high.

That house on high, it ever rings
With praises of the King of kings;
Forever there, on harps divine,
They hymn th' eternal One and Trine;
We, here below, the strain prolong,
And faintly echo Sion's song.

O Lord of lords invisible!
With thy pure light this temple fill:
Hither, oft as invoked, descend;
Here to thy people's prayer attend;
Here, through all hearts, forevermore,
thy Spirit's quick'ning graces pour.

Here may the faithful, day by day,
Their hearts' adoring homage pay;
And here receive from thy dear love
The blessings of that home above;
Till loosened from this mortal chain,
Its everlasting joys they gain.

To God the Father, glory due
Be paid by all the heavenly host;
And to his only Son most true;
With thee, O mighty Holy Ghost!
To whom, praise, power, and blessing be,
Through th' ages of eternity,
Amen.

Luc. 1:68-79

Luc. 1:68-79

1:68 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel: * for he has visited his people and redeemed them,
1:69 he has raised up for us a horn of salvation * in the house of David his servant,
1:70 as he spoke through the mouth of his holy ones, * his prophets from ages past:
1:71 salvation from our foes, * and from the hand of all who hate us;
1:72 to show mercy to our fathers, * and to remember his holy covenant,
1:73 the oath he swore to Abraham our father, * to grant us
1:74 that, freed from the hand of our foes, * we may serve him without fear,
1:75 in holiness and righteousness before him, * all the days of our life.
1:76 And you, little child, will be called the Prophet of the Most High: * for you will go before the Lord to make ready his ways,
1:77 to grant knowledge of salvation to his people, * by the forgiveness of their sins,
1:78 through the tender mercy of our God, * by which the Dawn from on high will visit us,
1:79 to shine on those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, * to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
