Hymnus
Rerum, Deus, tenax vigor,
Immótus in te pérmanens,
Lucis diúrnæ témpora
Succéssibus detérminans:
Largíre lumen véspere,
Quo vita nusquam décidat,
Sed prǽmium mortis sacræ
Perénnis instet glória.
Præsta, Pater piíssime,
Patríque compar Únice,
Cum Spíritu Paráclito
Regnans per omne sǽculum.
Amen.
O strength and stay upholding all creation,
Who ever dost thyself unmoved abide,
Yet day by day the light in due gradation
From hour to hour through all its changes guide:
Grant to life’s day a calm unclouded ending,
An eve untouched by shadows of decay,
The brightness of a holy death-bed blending
With dawning glories of th’ eternal day.
Hear us, O Father, gracious and forgiving,
And thou, O Christ, the co-eternal Word,
Who, with the Holy Ghost, by all things living
Now and to endless ages art adored.
Amen.

Ant. Salvásti nos, * Dómine, et in nómine tuo confitébimur in sǽcula.

Psalmus 43(2-9)
Psalm 43(2-9)
43:9 In Deo laudábimur tota die: * et in nómine tuo confitébimur in sǽculum.
43:2 O God, we have heard with our ears: * our fathers have declared to us.
43:2 The work you wrought in their days, * and in the days of old.
43:3 Your hand destroyed the Gentiles and planted them: * you afflicted the peoples and cast them out.
43:4 For they did not possess the land by their own sword, * and their own arm did not save them:
43:4 But your right hand, and your arm, and the light of your face: * because you were well pleased with them.
43:5 You yourself are my King and my God: * who command the saving of Jacob.
43:6 Through you we will scatter our enemies with the horn: * and in your name we will despise those who rise up against us.
43:7 For I will not trust in my bow: * and my sword will not save me.
43:8 For you have saved us from those who afflict us: * and you have put to shame those who hate us.
43:9 In God we will be praised all the day long: * and in your name we will give praise for ever.
℣ Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.
℣ Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
℟ Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper, * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
℟ As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, * world without end. Amen.
Psalmus 43(10-20)
Psalm 43(10-20)
43:15 Posuísti nos in similitúdinem géntibus: * commotiónem cápitis in pópulis.
43:16 Tota die verecúndia mea contra me est, * et confúsio faciéi meæ coopéruit me.
43:17 A voce exprobrántis, et obloquéntis: * a fácie inimíci, et persequéntis.
43:10 But now you have cast off and put us to shame: * and you, O God, will not go out with our armies.
43:11 You have turned us back behind our enemies: * and those who hated us plundered us for themselves.
43:12 You have given us up like sheep for food: * and you have scattered us among the nations.
43:13 You have sold your people for nothing: * and there was no great number in exchange for them.
43:14 You have made us a reproach to our neighbors, * a scorn and derision to those who are round about us.
43:15 You have made us a byword among the nations: * a shaking of the head among the peoples.
43:16 All the day long my shame is before me, * and the confusion of my face has covered me.
43:17 At the voice of him who reproaches and slanders: * at the face of the enemy and the persecutor.
43:18 All these things have come upon us, yet we have not forgotten you: * and we have not dealt unjustly in your covenant.
43:19 Our heart has not turned back: * and you have not diverted our steps from your way:
43:20 For you have humbled us in a place of affliction, * and the shadow of death has covered us.
Amen.
Psalmus 43(21-26)
Psalm 43(21-26)
* exsúrge, et ne repéllas in finem.
43:24 Quare fáciem tuam avértis, * oblivísceris inópiæ nostræ, et tribulatiónis nostræ?
43:25 Quóniam humiliáta est in púlvere ánima nostra: * conglutinátus est in terra venter noster.
43:26 Exsúrge, Dómine, ádiuva nos: * et rédime nos propter nomen tuum.
43:21 If we have forgotten the name of our God, * and if we have spread out our hands to a strange god:
43:22 Shall not God search these things out? * for he knows the secrets of the heart.
43:22 For because of you, we are killed all day long: * we are considered as sheep for the slaughter.
43:23 Rise up. Why do you fall asleep, O Lord? * Rise up, and do not reject us in the end.
43:24 Why do you turn your face away, * and why do you forget our needfulness and our tribulation?
43:25 For our soul has been humbled into the dust: * our belly has been bound to the earth.
43:26 Rise up, O Lord, help us: * and redeem us for the sake of your name.
℣ Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.

Deus, qui, miro órdine, Angelórum ministéria hominúmque dispénsas: concéde propítius; ut, a quibus tibi ministrántibus in cælo semper assístitur, ab his in terra vita nostra muniátur.
O God, who in wondrous order dispense the ministries of Angels and of men: graciously grant that our life on earth may be defended by those who always stand ministering to you in heaven.
