Psalmus 136
Psalm 136
136:4 Quómodo cantábimus cánticum Dómini * in terra aliéna?
136:7 Memor esto, Dómine, filiórum Edom, * in die Ierúsalem:
136:7 Qui dicunt: Exinaníte, exinaníte * usque ad fundaméntum in ea.
136:8 Fília Babylónis mísera: * beátus, qui retríbuet tibi retributiónem tuam, quam retribuísti nobis.
136:9 Beátus, qui tenébit, * et allídet párvulos tuos ad petram.
136:1 Above the rivers of Babylon, there we sat and wept: * while we remembered Zion.
136:2 By the willow trees, in their midst, * we hung up our instruments.
136:3 For, in that place, those who led us into captivity questioned us about the words of the songs: *
136:3 And those who carried us away: * Sing for us a hymn from the songs of Zion.
136:4 How can we sing a song of the Lord * in a foreign land?
136:5 If I ever forget you, Jerusalem, * let my right hand be forgotten.
136:6 May my tongue adhere to my jaws, * if I do not remember you:
136:6 If I do not set Jerusalem first, * as the beginning of my joy.
136:7 O Lord, call to mind the sons of Edom, * in the day of Jerusalem:
136:7 Who say: Despoil it, despoil it * even to its foundation.
136:8 O daughter of Babylon, have pity: * blessed is he who will repay you with your payment, which you have paid to us.
136:9 Blessed is he who will take hold, * and dash your little ones against the rock.
℣ Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.

Psalm 137
137:1 Confitébor tibi, Dómine, in toto corde meo: * quóniam audísti verba oris mei.
137:2 In conspéctu Angelórum psallam tibi: * adorábo ad templum sanctum tuum, et confitébor nómini tuo.
137:3 Super misericórdia tua, et veritáte tua: * quóniam magnificásti super omne, nomen sanctum tuum.
137:4 In quacúmque die invocávero te, exáudi me: * multiplicábis in ánima mea virtútem.
137:5 Confiteántur tibi, Dómine, omnes reges terræ: * quia audiérunt ómnia verba oris tui:
137:6 Et cantent in viis Dómini: * quóniam magna est glória Dómini.
137:7 Quóniam excélsus Dóminus, et humília réspicit: * et alta a longe cognóscit.
137:8 Si ambulávero in médio tribulatiónis, vivificábis me: * et super iram inimicórum meórum extendísti manum tuam, et salvum me fecit déxtera tua.
137:9 Dóminus retríbuet pro me: * Dómine, misericórdia tua in sǽculum: ópera mánuum tuárum ne despícias.
137:1 O Lord, I will confess to you with my whole heart: * for you have heard the words of my mouth.
137:2 I will adore before your holy temple, and I will confess your name: * it is above your mercy and your truth.
137:3 On whatever day I call upon you, hear me: * you will multiply virtue in my soul.
137:4 On whatever day that I will call upon you: hear me. * you will multiply virtue in my soul.
137:5 May all the kings of the earth confess to you, O Lord: * for they have heard all the words of your mouth:
137:6 And let them sing in accordance with the ways of the Lord: * for great is the glory of the Lord.
137:7 For the Lord is exalted, and he looks with favor on the humble: * but the lofty he knows from a distance.
137:8 If I wander into the midst of tribulation, you will revive me: * and you extended your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand saved me.
137:9 The Lord will provide retribution on my behalf: * O Lord, your mercy is forever; do not disdain the works of your hands.
℣ Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.
℣ Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.

Capitulum Hymnus Versus
Iac 1:12
Iac 1:12
Beátus vir, qui suffert tentatiónem: quóniam cum probátus fúerit, accípiet corónam vitæ, quam repromísit Deus diligéntibus se.
Blessed is the man who suffers temptation. For when he has been proven, he shall receive the crown of life which God has promised to those who love him.
℟ Deo grátias.
℟ Thanks be to God.
Deus tuórum mílitum
Sors, et córona, prǽmium,
Laudes canéntes Mártyris
Absólve nexu críminis.
Hic nempe mundi gáudia,
Et blanda fraudum pábula
Imbúta felle députans,
Pervénit ad cæléstia.
Pœnas cucúrrit fórtiter,
Et sústulit viríliter,
Fundénsque pro te sánguinem,
Ætérna dona póssidet.
Ob hoc precátu súpplici
Te póscimus, piíssime;
In hoc triúmpho Mártyris
Dimítte noxam sérvulis.
Laus et perénnis glória
Patri sit, atque Fílio,
Sancto simul Paráclito,
In sempitérna sǽcula.
Amen.
O God, of those that fought thy fight,
Portion, and prize, and crown of light,
Break every bond of sin and shame
As now we praise thy martyr's name.
He recked not of the world's allure,
But sin and pomp of sin forswore:
Knew all their gall, and passed them by,
And reached the throne prepared on high.
Bravely the course of pain he ran,
And bare his torments as a man:
For love of thee his blood outpoured,
And thus obtained the great reward.
With humble voice and suppliant word
We pray thee therefore, holy Lord,
While we thy martyr's feast-day keep,
Forgive thy loved and erring sheep.
Glory and praise for aye be done
To God the Father, and the Son,
And Holy Ghost, who reign on high,
One God, to all eternity.
Amen.
℣ Iustus ut palma florébit.
℣ The just man shall flourish like a palm tree.
℟ Sicut cedrus Líbani multiplicábitur.
℟ Like the cedar of Lebanon he shall multiply.
