Ant. Men of Galilee, * why do you stand looking up to heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come again, alleluia.

Psalm 143(1-8)

143:1 Blessed be the Lord my God, who trains my hands for battle, * and my fingers for war.
143:2 My mercy and my refuge: * my defender and my deliverer:
143:2 My protector, and in him have I hoped: * who subdues my people under me.
143:3 Lord, what is man, that you have made yourself known to him? * or the son of man, that you hold him in account?
143:4 Man is made like unto vanity: * his days pass away like a shadow.
143:5 Lord, bow your heavens and come down: * touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.
143:6 Flash forth lightning and you shall scatter them: * send out your arrows and you shall trouble them.
143:7 Stretch forth your hand from on high, rescue me and deliver me out of many waters: * from the hand of the sons of strangers.
143:8 Whose mouth has spoken vanity: * and whose right hand is a right hand of iniquity.

Psalm 143(9-15)

143:9 O God, I will sing a new canticle to you: * on the psaltery of ten strings I will sing praise to you.
143:10 Who gives salvation to kings: * who redeemed David your servant from the malicious sword: rescue me.
143:11 And deliver me from the hand of the sons of strangers, whose mouth has spoken vanity: * and whose right hand is a right hand of iniquity:
143:12 Whose sons are as new plantings * in their youth.
143:12 Their daughters adorned: * decked out in the likeness of a temple.
143:13 Their storehouses full, * overflowing from one thing to another.
143:13 Their sheep fruitful, abounding on their way out: * their oxen fat.
143:14 There is no breach in the wall, nor passage: * nor cry in their streets.
143:15 They have called the people happy that has these things: * happy the people whose God is the Lord.

144:1 I will extol you, O God my king: * and I will bless your name for ever, and for ever and ever.

144:3 Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised: * and of his greatness there is no end.
144:4 Generation and generation shall praise your works: * and they shall declare your power.
144:5 They shall speak of the magnificence of the glory of your holiness: * and shall tell of your wonderful works.
144:6 And they shall speak of the power of your awesome deeds: * and shall declare your greatness.
144:7 They shall pour forth the memory of the abundance of your sweetness: * and shall rejoice in your justice.

Psalm 144(8-13a)

144:8 The Lord is gracious and merciful: * patient, and rich in mercy.
144:9 The Lord is sweet to all: * and his mercies are over all his works.
144:10 Let all your works, O Lord, praise you: * and let your holy ones bless you.
144:11 They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom: * and shall declare your power:
144:12 To make your power known to the sons of men: * and the glory of the magnificence of your kingdom.
144:13a Your kingdom is a kingdom of all ages: * and your dominion endures through all generations.

Psalm 144(13b-21)

144:13b The Lord is faithful in all his words: * and holy in all his works.
144:14 The Lord lifts up all who fall: * and raises up all who are bowed down.
144:15 The eyes of all hope in you, O Lord: * and you give them their food in due season.
144:16 You open your hand: * and fill every living thing with blessing.
144:17 The Lord is just in all his ways: * and holy in all his works.
144:18 The Lord is near to all who call upon him: * to all who call upon him in truth.
144:19 He will do the will of those who fear him: ‡ and he will hear their supplication: * and he will save them.
144:20 The Lord preserves all who love him: * but all the sinners he will destroy.
144:21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord: * and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever, and for ever and ever.
