5:9 Dómine, deduc me in iustítia tua: * propter inimícos meos dírige in conspéctu tuo viam meam.
5:11b Décidant a cogitatiónibus suis, † secúndum multitúdinem impietátum eórum expélle eos, * quóniam irritavérunt te, Dómine.

5:4 For to you I will pray: * O Lord, in the morning you will hear my voice.
5:5 In the morning I will stand before you and watch: * for you are not a God who desires iniquity.
5:6 Neither will the wicked dwell beside you: * nor will the unjust endure before your eyes.
5:7a You have hated all who work iniquity: * you will destroy all who speak falsehood.
5:7b The Lord will abhor the man of blood and deceit: * (8a) but I, through the abundance of your mercy.
5:8b I will enter your house: * I will worship toward your holy temple in your fear.
5:9 O Lord, lead me in your justice: * because of my enemies, direct my way in your sight.

Capitulum Hymnus Versus
Sap 3:1-3
Sap 3:1-3
But the souls of the just are in the hand of God, and no torment of death will touch them. In the eyes of the foolish, they seemed to die, and their departure was considered an affliction, and their going away from us, a banishment. Yet they are in peace.
℟ Deo grátias.
℟ Thanks be to God.
Rex glorióse Mártyrum,
Coróna confiténtium,
Qui respuéntes térrea
Perdúcis ad cæléstia:
Aurem benígnam prótinus
Inténde nostris vócibus:
Trophǽa sacra pángimus:
Ignósce quod delíquimus.
Tu vincis inter Mártyres
Parcísque Confessóribus:
Tu vince nostra crímina,
Largítor indulgéntiæ.
Deo Patri sit glória,
Eiúsque soli Fílio,
Cum Spíritu Paráclito,
Nunc, et per omne sǽculum.
Amen.
O glorious King of martyr hosts,
Thou crown that each confessor boasts,
Who leadest to celestial day
Those who have cast earth's joys away:
Thine ear in mercy, Saviour, lend,
While unto thee our prayers ascend;
And as we count their triumphs won,
Forgive the sins that we have done.
Martyrs in thee their triumphs gain,
From thee confessors grace obtain;
O'ercome in us the lust of sin,
That we thy pardoning love may win.
To thee who, dead, again dost live,
All glory, Lord, thy people give;
All glory, as is ever meet,
To Father and to Paraclete.
Amen.
℣ Exsultábunt Sancti in glória.
℣ The Saints shall exult in glory.
℟ Lætabúntur in cubílibus suis.
℟ They shall rejoice in their dwellings.

Luc. 1:68-79

1:68 Blessed ✠ be the Lord God of Israel: * for he has visited his people and redeemed them,
1:69 he has raised up for us a horn of salvation * in the house of David his servant,
1:70 as he spoke through the mouth of his holy ones, * his prophets from ages past:
1:71 salvation from our foes, * and from the hand of all who hate us;
1:72 to show mercy to our fathers, * and to remember his holy covenant,
1:73 the oath he swore to Abraham our father, * to grant us
1:74 that, freed from the hand of our foes, * we may serve him without fear,
1:75 in holiness and righteousness before him, * all the days of our life.
1:76 And you, little child, will be called the Prophet of the Most High: * for you will go before the Lord to make ready his ways,
1:77 to grant knowledge of salvation to his people, * by the forgiveness of their sins,
1:78 through the tender mercy of our God, * by which the Dawn from on high will visit us,
1:79 to shine on those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, * to guide our feet into the way of peace.
