The birth of the blessed Apostles Philip and James. Of these, Philip, having converted almost all of Scythia to the faith of Christ, at last at Hierapolis, a city of Asia, was crucified and buried under stones, and rested with a glorious death; but James, who is also called the brother of the Lord and was the first Bishop of Jerusalem, thrown from the pinnacle of the Temple, with his legs broken thereby and struck on the head with a fuller's club, died, and was buried there not far from the Temple.
At Rome, on the Salarian Way, also the birth of blessed Anthimus, Priest, who, after distinguishing himself by virtues and preaching, was in the persecution of Diocletian thrown into the Tiber, rescued thence by an Angel, and restored to his own oratory; then, punished by decapitation, he departed as a victor to the heavens.
