Invitatorium
Ant. Regem Archangelórum Dóminum, * Veníte, adorémus.
Ant. Regem Archangelórum Dóminum, * Veníte, adorémus.
Veníte, exsultémus Dómino, jubilémus Deo, salutári nostro: præoccupémus fáciem ejus in confessióne, et in psalmis jubilémus ei.
Ant. Regem Archangelórum Dóminum, * Veníte, adorémus.
Quóniam Deus magnus Dóminus, et Rex magnus super omnes deos, quóniam non repéllet Dóminus plebem suam: quia in manu ejus sunt omnes fines terræ, et altitúdines móntium ipse cónspicit.
Ant.
Ant. Regem Archangelórum Dóminum, * Veníte, adorémus.
Hódie, si vocem ejus audiéritis, nolíte obduráre corda vestra, sicut in exacerbatióne secúndum diem tentatiónis in desérto: ubi tentavérunt me patres vestri, probavérunt et vidérunt ópera mea.
Ant. Veníte, adorémus.
Quadragínta annis próximus fui generatióni huic, et dixi: Semper hi errant corde, ipsi vero non cognovérunt vias meas: quibus jurávi in ira mea: Si introíbunt in réquiem meam.
Ant. Regem Archangelórum Dóminum, * Veníte, adorémus.
℣ Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.

Ant. The King of Archangels, the Lord, * Come, let us adore.
Ant. The King of Archangels, the Lord, * Come, let us adore.
Come, let us exult in the Lord. Let us shout joyfully to God, our Savior. Let us anticipate his presence with confession, and let us sing joyfully to him with psalms.
Ant. The King of Archangels, the Lord, * Come, let us adore.
For the Lord is a great God and a great King over all gods. For the Lord will not drive away his people. For in his hand are all the limits of the earth, and he beholds the heights of the mountains.
Ant. Come, let us adore.
For the sea is his, and he made it, and his hands established the dry land. (kneel) Come, let us adore and fall prostrate before God, and let us weep before the Lord who made us. For he is the Lord our God, and we are his people and the sheep of his pasture.
Ant. The King of Archangels, the Lord, * Come, let us adore.
If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts: as in the provocation, according to the day of temptation in the wilderness, where your fathers tempted me; they tested and saw my works.
Ant. Come, let us adore.
For forty years, I was near to that generation, and I said: These have always strayed in heart. But they have not known my ways. To them I swore in my wrath: They shall not enter into my rest.
Ant. The King of Archangels, the Lord, * Come, let us adore.
℣ Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
℟ As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, * world without end. Amen.
Ant. Come, let us adore.
Ant. The King of Archangels, the Lord, * Come, let us adore.
Hymnus
Te, splendor et virtus Patris,
Te vita, Jesu, córdium,
Ab ore qui pendent tuo,
Laudámus inter Angelos.
Tibi mille densa míllium
Ducum coróna mílitat;
Sed éxplicat victor Crucem
Míchaël salútis sígnifer.
Dracónis hic dirum caput
In ima pellit tártara,
Ducémque cum rebéllibus
Cælésti ab arce fúlminat.
Contra ducem supérbiæ
Sequámur hunc nos príncipem,
Ut detur ex Agni throno
Nobis coróna glóriæ.
Deo Patri sit glória,
Qui, quos redémit Fílius,
Et Sanctus unxit Spíritus,
Per Angelos custódiat.
Amen.
O Jesu Life, spring of the soul!
The Father's power and glory bright!
thee with the Angels we extol;
From thee they draw their life and light.
Thy thousand thousand hosts are spread
Embattled o'er the azure sky;
But Michael bears thy standard dread,
And lifts the mighty Cross on high.
He in that Sign the rebel power.
Did with their Dragon Prince expel;
And hurled them from the heaven's high towers,
Down like a thunderbolt to hell.
Grant us, with Michael, still, O Lord,
Against the prince of pride to fight;
So may a crown be our reward,
Before the Lamb's pure throne of light.
Glory be to God the Father,
Who through the Angels guards
Those whom the Son has redeemed
And the Holy Spirit has anointed.
Amen.

Dan 7:9-11

5 Et levávi óculos meos, et vidi: et ecce vir unus vestítus líneis, et renes ejus accíncti auro obrýzo;

Lectio 4
Sermo sancti Gregórii Papæ
Homil. 34 in Evang. ante medium
Benedictio. Ignem sui amóris accéndat Deus in córdibus nostris.
℟ Amen.
Lectio 6
Nocturnus III

Homilía sancti Hierónymi Presbýteri
Lib. 3 Comm. in cap. 18 Matth.
℟ In conspéctu géntium nolíte timére; vos enim in córdibus vestris adoráte et timéte Dóminum;
* Angelus enim ejus vobíscum est.
℣ Stetit Angelus juxta aram templi, habens thuríbulum áureum in manu sua.
℟ Angelus enim ejus vobíscum est.
℣ Jube, Dómine, benedícere.
Benedictio.

Dico vobis quia Angeli eórum in cælis semper vident fáciem Patris mei. Quia Angeli eórum in cælis vident semper fáciem Patris. Magna dígnitas animárum, ut unaquǽque hábeat ab ortu nativitátis, in custódiam sui, Angelum delegátum. Unde légimus in Apocalýpsi Joánnis: Angelo Ephesi, et reliquárum ecclesiárum, scribe hæc. Psalm 8 [1]
8:2a O Lord, our Lord, * how admirable is your name throughout all the earth!
8:2b For your magnificence is elevated * above the heavens.
8:3 Out of the mouths of babes and infants, you have perfected praise, because of your enemies, * so that you may destroy the enemy and the revenger.
8:4 For I will behold your heavens, the works of your fingers: * the moon and the stars, which you have founded.
8:5 What is man, that you are mindful of him, * or the son of man, that you visit him?
8:6 You reduced him to a little less than the Angels; † you have crowned him with glory and honor, * (7) and you have set him over the works of your hands.
8:8 You have subjected all things under his feet, * all sheep and oxen, and in addition: the beasts of the field,
8:9 the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, * which pass through the paths of the sea.
8:10 O Lord, our Lord, * how admirable is your name throughout all the earth!
℣ Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.

Psalm 10 [2]
10:2 I trust in the Lord. † How can you say to my soul, * “Flee to the mountain, like a sparrow”?
10:3 For behold, the sinners have bent their bow. † They have prepared their arrows in the quiver, * so as to shoot arrows in the dark at the upright of heart.
10:4 For they have destroyed the things that you have completed. * But what has the just one done?
10:5a The Lord is in his holy temple. * The Lord’s throne is in heaven.
10:5b His eyes look upon the poor. * His eyelids question the sons of men.
10:6 The Lord questions the just and the impious. * Yet he who loves iniquity, hates his own soul.
10:7 He will rain down snares upon sinners. * Fire and brimstone and windstorms will be the portion of their cup.
10:8 For the Lord is just, and he has loved justice. * His countenance has beheld equity.
℣ Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.

14:3a He who speaks the truth in his heart, * who has not acted deceitfully with his tongue,
14:3b and has not done evil to his neighbor, * and has not taken up a reproach against his neighbors.
14:4a In his sight, the malicious one has been reduced to nothing, * but he glorifies those who fear the Lord.

Lesson 1
From the Prophet Daniel
Dan 7:9-11
9 I watched until thrones were set in place and the Ancient of Days sat down. His clothing was white as snow, and the hair of his head like clean wool; his throne was flames of fire, its wheels a blazing fire.
10 A swift river of fire flowed out before him; thousands upon thousands served him, and ten thousand times a hundred thousand stood before him. The court sat in judgment, and the books were opened.
11 I watched because of the great words that the horn was speaking; and I saw that the beast was slain, its body destroyed and given over to be burned with fire.
℣ But you, O Lord, have mercy on us.
℟ Thanks be to God.
℟ There was silence in heaven, while the dragon waged war with Michael the Archangel:
* A voice was heard of thousands upon thousands saying: Salvation, honor, and power to almighty God.
℣ Thousands upon thousands ministered to him, and ten times a hundred thousand stood before him.
℟ A voice was heard of thousands upon thousands saying: Salvation, honor, and power to almighty God.
℣ Grant a blessing, O Lord.
Benediction. May the Only Begotten Son of God be pleased to bless and assist us.
℟ Amen.
Lesson 2
Dan 10:4-8
4 But on the twenty-fourth day of the first month, I was next to the great river, which is the Tigris.
5 And I lifted up my eyes, and I saw, and behold, one man clothed in linen, and his waist was wrapped with the finest gold,
6 And his body was like the golden stone, and his face had the appearance of lightning, and his eyes that of a burning lamp, and his arms and all that is downward all the way to the feet had the appearance of glowing brass, and his speaking voice was like the voice of a multitude.
7 But I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, for the men who were with me did not see it, but an exceedingly great terror rushed over them, and they fled into hiding.
8 And I, having been left alone, saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me, moreover, my appearance was altered, and I languished, not having any strength.
℣ But you, O Lord, have mercy on us.
℟ Thanks be to God.
℟ An Angel stood by the altar of the temple, holding a golden censer in his hand, and much incense was given to him:
* And the smoke of the aromatics ascended from the hand of the Angel before the Lord.
℣ In the sight of the Angels I will sing praise to you: I will worship toward your holy temple, and I will give praise to your name, O Lord.
℟ And the smoke of the aromatics ascended from the hand of the Angel before the Lord.
℣ Grant a blessing, O Lord.
Benediction. May the grace of the Holy Spirit enlighten our minds and hearts.
℟ Amen.
Lesson 3
Dan 10:9-14
9 And I heard the voice of his words, and when I heard, I lay down in confusion on my face, and my face was close to the ground.
10 And behold, a hand touched me, and raised me onto my knees and the knuckles of my hands.
11 And he said to me, 'Daniel, man of longing, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand yourself upright, for I am now sent to you.' And when he had spoken these words to me, I stood trembling.
12 And he said to me, 'Do not be afraid, Daniel, because from the first day that you set your heart to understand, by afflicting yourself in the sight of your God, your words have been heeded, and I have arrived because of your words.
13 But the leader of the kingdom of the Persians resisted me for twenty-one days, and behold, Michael, one of the primary leaders, came to help me, and I remained there next to the king of the Persians.
14 But I have come to teach you what will happen to your people in the latter days, because the vision is for a long time from now.'
℣ But you, O Lord, have mercy on us.
℟ Thanks be to God.
℟ In the sight of the Angels I will sing praise to you, and I will worship toward your holy temple:
* And I will give praise to your name, O Lord.
℣ For your mercy and your truth: because you have magnified your holy name above us.
℟ And I will give praise to your name, O Lord.
℣ Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
℟ And I will give praise to your name, O Lord.

Psalm 18 [4]
18:2 The heavens describe the glory of God, * and the firmament announces the work of his hands.
18:3 Day proclaims the word to day, * and night to night imparts knowledge.
18:4 There are no speeches or conversations, * where their voices are not being heard.
18:5 Their sound has gone forth through all the earth, * and their words to the ends of the world.
18:6a He has placed his tabernacle in the sun, * and he is like a bridegroom coming out of his bedroom.
18:6b He has exulted like a giant running along the way; * (7a) his departure is from the summit of heaven.
18:7b And his course reaches all the way to its summit. * Neither is there anyone who can hide himself from his heat.
18:8 The law of the Lord is immaculate, converting souls. * The testimony of the Lord is faithful, providing wisdom to little ones.
18:9 The justice of the Lord is right, rejoicing hearts. * The precepts of the Lord are brilliant, enlightening the eyes.
18:10 The fear of the Lord is holy, enduring for all generations. * The judgments of the Lord are true, justified in themselves:
18:11 desirable beyond gold and many precious stones, * and sweeter than honey and the honeycomb.
18:12 For, indeed, your servant keeps them, * and in keeping them, there are many rewards.
18:13 Who can understand transgression? † From my hidden faults, cleanse me, * (14a) and from those of others, spare your servant.
18:14b If they will have no dominion over me, then I will be immaculate, * and I will be cleansed from the greatest transgression.
18:15a And the words of my mouth will be so as to please, * along with the meditation of my heart, in your sight, forever,
18:15b O Lord, my helper * and my redeemer.
℣ Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
℟ As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, * world without end. Amen.

Psalm 23 [5]
23:1 The earth and all its fullness belong to the Lord: * the whole world and all that dwells in it.
23:2 For he has founded it upon the seas, * and he has prepared it upon the rivers.
23:3 Who will ascend to the mountain of the Lord? * And who will stand in his holy place?
23:4 The innocent of hands and the clean of heart, * who has not received his soul in vain, nor sworn deceitfully to his neighbor.
23:5 He will receive a blessing from the Lord, * and mercy from God, his Savior.
23:6 This is the generation that seeks him, * that seeks the face of the God of Jacob.
23:7 Lift up your gates, you princes, and be lifted up, eternal gates. * And the King of Glory shall enter.
23:8 Who is this King of Glory? * The Lord who is strong and powerful; the Lord powerful in battle.
23:9 Lift up your gates, you princes, and be lifted up, eternal gates. * And the King of Glory shall enter.
23:10 Who is this King of Glory? * The Lord of hosts. He himself is the King of Glory.

33:3 In the Lord, my soul will be praised. * May the meek listen and rejoice.
33:4 Magnify the Lord with me, * and let us extol his name together.
33:5 I sought the Lord, and he heeded me, * and he carried me away from all my tribulations.
33:6 Approach him and be enlightened, * and your faces will not be confounded.
33:7 This poor one cried out, and the Lord heeded him, * and he saved him from all his tribulations.
33:8 The Angel of the Lord will encamp around those who fear him, * and he will rescue them.
33:9 Taste and see that the Lord is sweet. * Blessed is the man who hopes in him.
33:10 Fear the Lord, all you his saints. * For there is no destitution for those who fear him.
33:11 The rich have been needy and hungry, * but those who seek the Lord will not be deprived of any good thing.
33:12 Come forward, sons. Listen to me. * I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
33:13 Which is the man who wills life, * who chooses to see good days?
33:14 Prohibit your tongue from evil * and your lips from speaking deceit.
33:15 Turn away from evil, and do good. * Seek peace, and pursue it.
33:16 The eyes of the Lord are on the just, * and his ears are with their prayers.
33:17 But the countenance of the Lord is upon those who do evil, * to destroy the remembrance of them from the earth.
33:18 The just cried out, and the Lord heard them, * and he freed them from all their tribulations.
33:19 The Lord is near to those who are troubled in heart, * and he will save the humble in spirit.
33:20 Many are the afflictions of the just, * but from them all the Lord will free them.
33:21 The Lord preserves all of their bones, * not one of them shall be broken.

33:23 The Lord will redeem the souls of his servants, * and none of those who hope in him will be guilty.
℣ Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.

Absolution. May his loving kindness and mercy assist us, he who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever.
℟ Amen.
℣ Grant a blessing, O Lord.
Benediction. May God the almighty Father be gracious and merciful to us.
℟ Amen.
Lesson 4
Sermon of Saint Gregory the Pope
Homily 34 on the Gospels, before the middle
We speak of nine orders of Angels, because we know from the witness of Holy Scripture that there are: Angels, Archangels, Virtues, Powers, Principalities, Dominations, Thrones, Cherubim, and Seraphim. For nearly all the pages of Holy Scripture attest the existence of Angels and Archangels. The books of the prophets speak frequently of Cherubim and Seraphim, as is well known. The Apostle Paul also enumerates four orders by name to the Ephesians, saying: Above every Principality, and Power, and Virtue, and Domination. He again, writing to the Colossians, says: Whether Thrones, or Powers, or Principalities, or Dominations. When, therefore, Thrones are joined to those four which he named to the Ephesians, there are five orders; to which, when Angels and Archangels, Cherubim and Seraphim are added, nine orders of Angels are found without doubt.
℣ But you, O Lord, have mercy on us.
℟ Thanks be to God.
℟ This is the Archangel Michael, prince of the heavenly host,
* Whose honor bestows blessings upon peoples, and whose prayer leads them to the kingdoms of heaven.
℣ The Archangel Michael, guardian of paradise, whom the citizens of Angels honor.
℟ Whose honor bestows blessings upon peoples, and whose prayer leads them to the kingdoms of heaven.
℣ Grant a blessing, O Lord.
Benediction. May Christ grant us the joys of eternal life.
℟ Amen.
Lesson 5
We must know that the name of Angels is a name of office, not of nature. For those holy Spirits of the heavenly homeland are indeed always Spirits, but they cannot always be called Angels; because they are Angels only when some message is announced through them. Hence the Psalmist also says: Who makes his Angels spirits; as if to say plainly: Those whom he always has as Spirits, he also makes Angels when he wills. Now those who announce lesser things are called Angels; but those who announce the highest things are called Archangels. Hence it is that not just any Angel, but the Archangel Gabriel, is sent to the Virgin Mary. For it was fitting that the highest Angel should come for this ministry, who was to announce the highest of all things. They are also designated by individual names, so that their power in operation might be indicated by their names. For Michael means: Who is like God? Gabriel means: Strength of God; and Raphael means: Medicine of God.
℣ But you, O Lord, have mercy on us.
℟ Thanks be to God.
℟ The Archangel Michael came with a multitude of Angels, to whom God entrusted the souls of the Saints,
* That he might lead them into the paradise of exultation.
℣ Send forth, O Lord, your Holy Spirit from heaven, the spirit of wisdom and understanding.
℟ That he might lead them into the paradise of exultation.
℣ Grant a blessing, O Lord.
Benediction. May God kindle the fire of his love in our hearts.
℟ Amen.
Lesson 6
And as often as something of wondrous power is done, Michael is said to be sent; so that from the very deed and name it may be understood that no one can do what God alone has the power to do. Hence also that ancient enemy, who coveted through pride to be like God, saying: I will climb up to heaven. I will exalt my throne above the stars of heaven. I will be like the Most High — when at the end of the world he will be left to his own power to be destroyed with the final punishment, he is said to be about to do battle with Michael the Archangel, as John says: There was war with Michael the Archangel. To Mary also Gabriel is sent, who is named the Strength of God; for he came to announce him who in his humility was pleased to appear in order to overcome the powers of the air. Raphael also is interpreted, as we have said, as the Medicine of God; because, namely, when he touched the eyes of Tobit, as it were in the office of healing, he wiped away the darkness of his blindness.
℣ But you, O Lord, have mercy on us.
℟ Thanks be to God.
℟ At that time Michael will rise up, who stands for your children:
* And a time will come, such as has not been from the time that nations began, even until that time.
℣ At that time your people will be saved, all who will be found written in the book of life.
℟ And a time will come, such as has not been from the time that nations began, even until that time.
℣ Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
℟ And a time will come, such as has not been from the time that nations began, even until that time.

96:4 His lightnings have enlightened the whole world. * The earth saw, and it was shaken.
96:5 The mountains flowed like wax before the face of the Lord, * before the face of the Lord of all the earth.
96:6 The heavens announced his justice, * and all peoples saw his glory.
96:7 May all those who adore graven images be confounded, * along with those who glory in their false images.
96:7 All you his Angels: Adore him. * Zion heard, and was glad.
96:8 And the daughters of Judah exulted * because of your judgments, O Lord.
96:9 For you are the Most High Lord over all the earth. * You are greatly exalted above all gods.
96:10 You who love the Lord: hate evil. * The Lord watches over the souls of his holy ones. He will free them from the hand of the sinner.

102:2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, * and do not forget all his recompenses.
102:3 He forgives all your iniquities. * He heals all your infirmities.
102:4 He redeems your life from destruction. * He crowns you with mercy and compassion.
102:5 He satisfies your desire with good things. * Your youth will be renewed like that of the eagle.
102:6 The Lord accomplishes mercies, * and his judgment is for all who suffer injustice.
102:7 He has made his ways known to Moses, * his will to the sons of Israel.
102:8 The Lord is compassionate and merciful, * patient and full of mercy.
102:9 He will not be angry forever, * and he will not threaten for eternity.
102:10 He has not dealt with us according to our sins, * and he has not repaid us according to our iniquities.
102:11 For according to the height of the heavens above the earth, * so has he reinforced his mercy toward those who fear him.
102:12 As far as the east is from the west, * so far has he removed our iniquities from us.
102:13 As a father is compassionate to his sons, so has the Lord been compassionate to those who fear him. * For he knows our form.
102:14 He has called to mind that we are dust. * Man: his days are like hay. Like the flower of the field, so will he flourish.

102:17 But the mercy of the Lord is from eternity, * and even unto eternity, upon those who fear him.

102:18 and have been mindful of his commandments * by doing them.
102:19 The Lord has prepared his throne in heaven, * and his kingdom will rule over all.

102:21 Bless the Lord, all his hosts: * his ministers who do his will.
102:22 Bless the Lord, all his works: * in every place of his dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul.

The Our Father is said silently as far as And lead us not into temptation:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name: thy kingdom come: thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread: and forgive us our trespasses, as we also forgive those who trespass against us:
℣ And lead us not into temptation:

Absolution. May the almighty and merciful Lord absolve us from the bonds of our sins.
℟ Amen.

Lesson 7
A Reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew
Matthew 18:1-10
At that time: The disciples drew near to Jesus, saying: Who, do you think, is greater in the kingdom of heaven? And so forth.
From a Homily of Saint Jerome, Priest
Commentary on Matthew, book 3, chapter 18
After the finding of the stater, after the payment of the tribute, what is the meaning of the Apostles' sudden question: Who, do you think, is greater in the kingdom of heaven? Because they had seen the same tribute paid for Peter and the Lord, they concluded from the equality of the price that Peter was set above all the Apostles, since in the payment of the tribute he had been compared to the Lord; and so they ask who is greater in the kingdom of heaven. And Jesus, seeing their thoughts and understanding the causes of their error, desires to heal the appetite for glory by the practice of humility.
℣ But you, O Lord, have mercy on us.
℟ Thanks be to God.
℟ In the sight of the nations, do not be afraid; for in your hearts worship and fear the Lord;
* For his Angel is with you.
℣ An Angel stood near the altar of the temple, having a golden censer in his hand.
℟ For his Angel is with you.
℣ Grant a blessing, O Lord.
Benediction. May they whose feast we celebrate intercede for us to the Lord.
℟ Amen.
Lesson 8
But if your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is necessary indeed that scandals come; but woe to that man through whose own fault it comes to pass that what must happen in the world happens through him. Therefore every affection is to be cut off and every close relationship severed, lest under the pretext of piety any one of the faithful be exposed to scandals. If anyone, he says, is so joined to you as a hand, foot, or eye; if he is useful and watchful, and sharp-sighted; but causes you scandal and, by the discord of his morals, drags you into Gehenna: it is better for you to lack both his closeness and the material advantages he brings, rather than, in wishing to gain relatives and dear ones, to have cause for ruin.
℣ But you, O Lord, have mercy on us.
℟ Thanks be to God.
℟ Michael the Archangel came to the aid of the people of God,
* He stood in support for the souls of the just.
℣ An Angel stood near the altar of the temple, having a golden censer in his hand.
℟ He stood in support for the souls of the just.
℣ Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
℟ He stood in support for the souls of the just.
℣ Grant a blessing, O Lord.
Benediction. May the King of Angels lead us to the company of the citizens on high.
℟ Amen.
Lesson 9
I tell you that their Angels in heaven always behold the face of my Father. He had said before that all intimacies and attachments which could cause scandal were to be cut off — through hand and foot and eye; and so he tempers the severity of the sentence by adding a precept, saying: See that you do not despise one of these little ones. Thus, he says, I enjoin severity, in order to teach that clemency must be mingled with it. For their Angels in heaven always behold the face of the Father. Great is the dignity of souls, that each one from the moment of its birth should have an Angel assigned to guard it. Hence we read in the Apocalypse of John: To the Angel of Ephesus, and of the remaining churches, write these things. The Apostle also commands that women's heads be covered in the churches, on account of the Angels.
℣ But you, O Lord, have mercy on us.
℟ Thanks be to God.
Te Deum
O God, we praise you; * O Lord, we acclaim you.
Eternal Father, * all the earth reveres you.
To you all the Angels, * the heavens and all the Powers of heaven:
To you the Cherubim and Seraphim * cry out in endless praise:
(A bow is made) Holy, Holy, Holy * Lord God of hosts;
Heaven and earth are filled * with the majesty of your glory.
The glorious choir of Apostles * sings to you,
the noble company of Prophets * praises you,
the white-robed army of Martyrs * glorifies you.
Holy Church throughout the earth * proclaims you,
the Father * of boundless majesty;
your true and only Son, * worthy of adoration;
and the Holy Spirit, * the Paraclete.
You, O Christ, * are the King of glory.
You are * the Father's everlasting Son.
(A bow is made) When you resolved to save the human race, * you did not spurn the Virgin's womb.
You overcame the sting of death * and opened the Kingdom of Heaven to those who put their faith in you.
You are seated at the right hand of God * in the glory of the Father.
We believe you are the Judge * who is to come.
(The following verse is said kneeling) And so we beg you, help your servants, * redeemed by your most precious blood.
Number them * among your Saints in eternal glory.
Save your people, Lord, * and bless your inheritance.
Shepherd them * and raise them to eternal life.
Day by day * we bless you,
(A bow is made, according to custom) and we praise your name * for endless ages evermore.
Be gracious, Lord, on this day, * and keep us from all sin.
Have mercy on us, O Lord, * have mercy.
May your mercy be upon us, Lord, * as we place our trust in you.
In you, O Lord, I rest my hope: * let me never be put to shame.
The rest is omitted unless Lauds is said separately.
