He, in the persecution of Trajan, condemned to the wild beasts, is sent bound to Rome; and there, the Senate being assembled, he is first subjected to the most savage torments, then thrown to the lions, by whose teeth, being strangled, he becomes a victim for Christ. His feast, however, is celebrated on the Kalends of February.
