At Rome, the passion of Saint Cyriacus the Deacon, who, after long torment in prison, drenched with molten pitch and stretched on the rack, also tormented with cords and beaten with rods, was at last, together with Largus, Smaragdus, and twenty others, beheaded by the order of Maximianus. The feast of Saints Cyriacus, Largus, and Smaragdus is commemorated on the eighth of August, the day on which the bodies of these same twenty-three Martyrs were raised up and reverently entombed by the blessed Pope Marcellus.
At Aquileia, the birthday of Blessed Hilary the Bishop and Tatianus the Deacon, who, under the Emperor Numerianus and the governor Beronius, after the rack and other torments, together with Felix, Largus, and Dionysius, completed their martyrdom.
