Hymnus
Jam lucis orto sídere,
Deum precémur súpplices,
Ut in diúrnis áctibus
Nos servet a nocéntibus.
Linguam refrénans témperet,
Ne litis horror ínsonet:
Visum fovéndo cóntegat,
Ne vanitátes háuriat.
Sint pura cordis íntima,
Absístat et vecórdia;
Carnis terat supérbiam
Potus cibíque párcitas.
Ut, cum dies abscésserit,
Noctémque sors redúxerit,
Mundi per abstinéntiam
Ipsi canámus glóriam.
Deo Patri sit glória,
Ejúsque soli Fílio,
Cum Spíritu Paráclito,
Nunc et per omne sǽculum.
Amen.
Now in the sun's new dawning ray,
Lowly of heart, our God we pray
That he from harm may keep us free
In all the deeds this day shall see.
May fear of him our tongues restrain,
Lest strife unguarded speech should stain:
His favouring care our guardian be,
Lest our eyes feed on vanity.
May every heart be pure from sin
And folly find no place therein:
Scant need of food, excess denied,
Wear down in us the body's pride.
That when the light of day is gone,
And night in course shall follow on.
We, free from cares the world affords,
May chant the praise that is our Lord's.
All laud to God the Father be,
All praise, Eternal Son, to thee:
All glory, as is ever meet,
To God the holy Paraclete.
Amen.

Psalmus 25 [1]
25:1 Júdica me, Dómine, quóniam ego in innocéntia mea ingréssus sum: * et in Dómino sperans non infirmábor.
25:2 Proba me, Dómine, et tenta me: * ure renes meos et cor meum.
25:12 Pes meus stetit in dirécto: * in ecclésiis benedícam te, Dómine.
℣ Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.
℟ Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper, * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
Psalmus 51 [2]
51:3 Quid gloriáris in malítia, * qui potens es in iniquitáte?
Amen.
Psalmus 52 [3]
Amen.
Ant. Misericórdia tua, Dómine, ante óculos meos: et complácui in veritáte tua.
Ant. Your mercy, * O Lord, is before my eyes: and I have been pleasing in your truth.
Psalm 25 [1]
25:1 Judge me, Lord, for I have been walking in my innocence, * and by hoping in the Lord, I will not be weakened.
25:2 Examine me, Lord, and test me: * enkindle my temperament and my heart.
25:3 For your mercy is before my eyes, * and I am serene in your truth.
25:4 I have not sat with the council of emptiness, * and I will not enter with those who carry out injustice.
25:5 I have hated the assembly of the malicious; * and I will not sit with the impious.
25:6 I will wash my hands among the innocent, * and I will surround your altar, O Lord,
25:7 so that I may hear the voice of your praise * and describe all your wonders.
25:8 O Lord, I have loved the beauty of your house * and the dwelling place of your glory.
25:9 O God, do not let my soul perish with the impious, * nor my life with the men of blood,
25:10 in whose hands are iniquities: * their right hand has been filled by bribes.
25:11 But as for me, I have been walking in my innocence. * Redeem me, and have mercy on me.
25:12 My foot has stood firm in the straight path. * In the churches, I will bless you, O Lord.
℣ Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
℟ As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, * world without end. Amen.
Psalm 51 [2]
51:3 Why do you glory in malice, * you who are powerful in iniquity?
51:4 All day long your tongue thinks up injustice. * Like a sharp razor, you have wrought deceit.
51:5 You have loved malice above goodness, * and iniquity more than speaking righteousness.
51:6 You have loved all precipitous words, * you deceitful tongue.
51:7 Because of this, God will destroy you in the end. * He will pull you up, and he will remove you from your tabernacle and your root from the land of the living.
51:8 The just will see and be afraid, and they will laugh over him, and say: * “Behold the man who did not set God as his helper.
51:9 But he hoped in the multitude of his riches, * and so he prevailed in his emptiness.”
51:10 But I, like a fruitful olive tree in the house of God, * have hoped in the mercy of God unto eternity, and forever and ever.
51:11 I will confess to you forever, because you have accomplished it. * And I will wait on your name, for it is good in the sight of your saints.
℣ Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
℟ As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, * world without end. Amen.
Psalm 52 [3]
52:1 The fool has said in his heart, * “There is no God.”
52:2 They were corrupted, and they became abominable with iniquities. * There is no one who does good.
52:3 God gazed down from heaven on the sons of men, * to see if there were any who were considering or seeking God.
52:4 All have gone astray; together they have become useless. * There is no one who does good; there is not even one.
52:5 Will they never learn: all those who work iniquity, * who devour my people like a meal of bread?
52:6 They have not called upon God. * In that place, they have trembled in fear, where there was no fear.
52:6 For God has scattered the bones of those who please men. * They have been confounded, because God has spurned them.
52:7 Who will grant from Zion the salvation of Israel? * Jacob will exult, when God will convert the captivity of his people; and Israel will rejoice.
℣ Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
℟ As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, * world without end. Amen.
Ant. Your mercy, O Lord, is before my eyes: and I have been pleasing in your truth.

The Sixteenth of September. The fifteenth day of the moon. In the year of our Lord 2027.
The holy Martyrs Cornelius, Pope, and Cyprian, Bishop of Carthage, whose commemoration is observed on September 14.
At Chalcedon, the heavenly birthday of Saint Euphemia, Virgin and Martyr. Under the Emperor Diocletian and the proconsul Priscus, she overcame for Christ torments, prisons, scourging, devices of wheels, fires, weights of stones, beasts, blows of rods, sharp saws, and burning pans. Again brought into the theater before the beasts, she prayed to the Lord to receive her spirit now. One beast bit her holy body while the others licked her feet, and she yielded her immaculate spirit to God.
At Rome, the holy Martyrs Lucy, a noble matron, and Geminian. The Emperor Diocletian subjected both to most grievous punishments and long torture, and at last, after their praiseworthy victory in martyrdom, ordered them to be put to death with the sword.
The heavenly birthday of Saint Martin I, Pope and Martyr. Having assembled a Synod at Rome, he condemned the heretics Sergius, Paul, and Pyrrhus. For this reason he was deceitfully arrested at the command of the heretical Emperor Constans, taken to Constantinople, and banished to Chersonesus. There, worn out by hardships for the Catholic faith, he ended his life and became renowned for many miracles. His body was afterwards translated to Rome and laid in the church of Saints Sylvester and Martin. His feast is celebrated on November 12.
Likewise at Rome, the heavenly birthday of Saint Cecilia, Virgin and Martyr, who brought her husband Valerian and his brother Tiburtius to belief in Christ and encouraged them to martyrdom. After their martyrdom, Almachius, Prefect of the City, had her arrested. After she overcame fire, he had her glorious passion completed with the sword, in the time of the Emperor Marcus Aurelius Severus Alexander. Her feast is observed on November 22.
At Heraclea in Thrace, Saint Sebastiana, Martyr, who was brought to the faith of Christ by blessed Paul the Apostle. Under the Emperor Domitian and the governor Sergius, she was tried in various ways and at last killed with the sword.
At Rome, on the Flaminian Way, the holy Martyrs Abundius, Priest, and Abundantius, Deacon. The Emperor Diocletian ordered them to be killed with the sword at the tenth milestone from the City, together with the illustrious Marcian and his son John, whom they had raised from the dead.
At Córdoba in Spain, the holy Martyrs Rogellus and Servideus, whose hands and feet were cut off and who were finally beheaded.
At Whithorn in Scotland, Saint Ninian, Bishop and Confessor.
In England, Saint Edith, Virgin, daughter of Edgar, King of the English. Dedicated to God in a monastery from her earliest years, it was truer to say that she had never known this world than that she had renounced it.
At Monte Cassino, blessed Pope Victor III, successor of Saint Gregory VII, who shed new splendor on the Apostolic See, obtaining a notable triumph over the Saracens by divine help. Pope Leo XIII ratified and confirmed the veneration paid to him from time immemorial.
℣ And elsewhere of many other holy Martyrs and Confessors, and holy Virgins.
℟ Thanks be to God.
℣ Precious in the sight of the Lord.
℟ The death of his Saints.
May holy Mary and all the Saints intercede for us to the Lord, that we may merit to be helped and saved by him, who lives and reigns for ever and ever.
℟ Amen.
