Hymnus
Jam lucis orto sídere,
Deum precémur súpplices,
Ut in diúrnis áctibus
Nos servet a nocéntibus.
Linguam refrénans témperet,
Ne litis horror ínsonet:
Visum fovéndo cóntegat,
Ne vanitátes háuriat.
Sint pura cordis íntima,
Absístat et vecórdia;
Carnis terat supérbiam
Potus cibíque párcitas.
Ut, cum dies abscésserit,
Noctémque sors redúxerit,
Mundi per abstinéntiam
Ipsi canámus glóriam.
Deo Patri sit glória,
Ejúsque soli Fílio,
Cum Spíritu Paráclito,
Nunc et per omne sǽculum.
Amen.
Now in the sun's new dawning ray,
Lowly of heart, our God we pray
That he from harm may keep us free
In all the deeds this day shall see.
May fear of him our tongues restrain,
Lest strife unguarded speech should stain:
His favouring care our guardian be,
Lest our eyes feed on vanity.
May every heart be pure from sin
And folly find no place therein:
Scant need of food, excess denied,
Wear down in us the body's pride.
That when the light of day is gone,
And night in course shall follow on.
We, free from cares the world affords,
May chant the praise that is our Lord's.
All laud to God the Father be,
All praise, Eternal Son, to thee:
All glory, as is ever meet,
To God the holy Paraclete.
Amen.

Canticum Quicumque [4]
Symbolum Athanasium
Amen.
Ant. Glória tibi, Trínitas æquális, una Déitas, et ante ómnia sǽcula, et nunc et in perpétuum.
Ant. Glory to you, equal Trinity, * one Godhead, before all ages, and now and for ever.
Psalm 53 [1]
53:3 Save me, O God, by your name, * and judge me in your virtue.
53:4 O God, listen to my prayer. * Pay attention to the words of my mouth.
53:5 For strangers have risen up against me, and the strong have sought my soul. * And they have not set God before their eyes.
53:6 For behold, God is my helper, * and the Lord is the protector of my soul.
53:7 Turn back the evils upon my adversaries, * and ruin them by your truth.
53:8 I will freely sacrifice to you, * and I will confess your name, O God, because it is good.
53:9 For you have quickly rescued me from all tribulation, * and my eye has looked down upon my enemies.
℣ Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
℟ As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, * world without end. Amen.
Psalm 118(1-16) [2]
118:1 (Aleph) Blessed are the immaculate in the way, * who walk in the law of the Lord.
118:2 Blessed are those who examine his testimonies. * They seek him with their whole heart.
118:3 For those who work iniquity * have not walked in his ways.
118:4 You have ordered * your commandments to be kept most diligently.
118:5 I wish that my ways may be directed * so as to keep your justifications.
118:6 Then I will not be confounded, * when I will look into all your commandments.
118:7 I will confess to you with honesty of heart. * In this way, I have learned the judgments of your justice.
118:8 I will keep your justifications. * Do not utterly abandon me.
118:9 (Beth) By what does an adolescent correct his way? * By keeping to your words.
118:10 With my whole heart, I have sought you. * Do not let me be driven away from your commandments.
118:11 I have hidden your eloquence in my heart, * so that I may not sin against you.
118:12 Blessed are you, O Lord. * Teach me your justifications.
118:13 With my lips, * I have pronounced all the judgments of your mouth.
118:14 I have been delighted in the way of your testimonies, * as if in all riches.
118:15 I will be trained in your commandments, * and I will consider your ways.
118:16 I will meditate on your justifications. * I will not forget your words.
℣ Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
℟ As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, * world without end. Amen.
Psalm 118(17-32) [3]
118:17 (Ghimel) Repay your servant, revive me; * and I will keep your words.
118:18 Reveal to my eyes, * and I will consider the wonders of your law.
118:19 I am a sojourner on the earth. * Do not hide your commandments from me.
118:20 My soul has longed to desire your justifications * at all times.
118:21 You have rebuked the arrogant. * Those who decline from your commandments are accursed.
118:22 Take me away from disgrace and contempt, * for I have sought your testimonies.
118:23 For even the leaders sat and spoke against me. * But your servant has been trained in your justifications.
118:24 For your testimonies are also my meditation, * and your justifications are my counsel.
118:25 (Daleth) My soul has adhered to the pavement. * Revive me according to your word.
118:26 I have declared my ways, and you have heeded me. * Teach me your justifications.
118:27 Instruct me in the way of your justifications, * and I will be trained in your wonders.
118:28 My soul has slumbered because of weariness. * Confirm me in your words.
118:29 Remove the way of iniquity from me, * and have mercy on me by your law.
118:30 I have chosen the way of truth. * I have not forgotten your judgments.
118:31 I have adhered to your testimonies, O Lord. * Do not be willing to confound me.
118:32 I have run by way of your commandments, * when you enlarged my heart.
℣ Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
℟ As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, * world without end. Amen.
Canticle of the Athanasian Creed [4]
Athanasian Creed
Whoever wishes to be saved, * before all things it is necessary that he hold the Catholic faith:
For unless each one preserves it whole and inviolate, * without doubt he will perish forever.
Now the Catholic faith is this: * that we worship one God in the Trinity, and the Trinity in unity.
Not confounding the Persons, * nor dividing the substance.
For the Person of the Father is one, that of the Son another, * that of the Holy Spirit another:
But the divinity of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit is one, * equal in glory, coeternal in majesty.
Such as the Father is, such is the Son, * such is the Holy Spirit.
Uncreated the Father, uncreated the Son, * uncreated the Holy Spirit.
Immeasurable the Father, immeasurable the Son, * immeasurable the Holy Spirit.
Eternal the Father, eternal the Son, * eternal the Holy Spirit.
And yet there are not three eternal, * but one eternal.
Just as there are not three uncreated, nor three immeasurable, * but one uncreated and one immeasurable.
Likewise almighty the Father, almighty the Son, * almighty the Holy Spirit.
And yet there are not three almighty, * but one almighty.
Thus God the Father, God the Son, * God the Holy Spirit.
And yet there are not three Gods, * but one God.
Thus Lord the Father, Lord the Son, * Lord the Holy Spirit.
And yet there are not three Lords, * but one Lord.
For just as we are compelled by Christian truth to confess each Person individually as God and Lord: * so we are forbidden by the Catholic faith to say there are three Gods or three Lords.
The Father was made by no one: * neither created nor begotten.
The Son is from the Father alone: * not made, nor created, but begotten.
The Holy Spirit is from the Father and the Son: * not made, nor created, nor begotten, but proceeding.
There is therefore one Father, not three Fathers: one Son, not three Sons: * one Holy Spirit, not three Holy Spirits.
And in this Trinity there is nothing prior or subsequent, nothing greater or lesser: * but all three Persons are coeternal with one another and coequal.
So that in all things, as has already been said above, * both the unity in the Trinity and the Trinity in unity is to be worshipped.
Whoever, therefore, wishes to be saved, * let him think thus concerning the Trinity.
But it is necessary for eternal salvation * that he also faithfully believe in the Incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The right faith, therefore, is that we believe and confess, * that our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is God and man.
He is God, begotten of the substance of the Father before all ages: * and he is man, born of the substance of his mother in this age.
Perfect God, perfect man: * subsisting of a rational soul and human flesh.
Equal to the Father according to his divinity: * lesser than the Father according to his humanity.
Who, though he is God and man, * is yet not two, but one Christ.
One, however, not by the conversion of divinity into flesh, * but by the assumption of humanity into God.
One altogether, not by confusion of substance, * but by unity of person.
For just as a rational soul and flesh make one man: * so God and man make one Christ.
Who suffered for our salvation: he descended into hell: * on the third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven, he sits at the right hand of God the Father almighty: * from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
At whose coming all men must rise again with their bodies; * and they are to render an account of their own deeds.
And those who have done good will go into eternal life: * but those who have done evil, into eternal fire.
This is the Catholic faith, * which unless each one believes faithfully and firmly, he will not be able to be saved.
℣ Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
℟ As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, * world without end. Amen.
Ant. Glory to you, equal Trinity, one Godhead, before all ages, and now and for ever.

℟ As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, * world without end. Amen.
Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
The Our Father is said silently as far as And lead us not into temptation:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name: thy kingdom come: thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread: and forgive us our trespasses, as we also forgive those who trespass against us:
℣ And lead us not into temptation:
℟ But deliver us from evil.
℣ Look upon your servants, O Lord, and upon your works, and direct their children.
℟ And may the splendor of the Lord our God be upon us. And so, direct the works of our hands over us; direct even the work of our hands.
℣ Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
℟ As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, * world without end. Amen.
Let us pray.
Be pleased to direct and sanctify, to rule and to govern, O Lord God, King of heaven and earth, this day our hearts and our bodies, our senses, our words, and our actions, in your law and in the works of your commandments: that here and in eternity, with your help, we may merit to be saved and free, O Savior of the world: who live and reign for ever and ever.
℟ Amen.
