Hymnus
Jam lucis orto sídere,
Deum precémur súpplices,
Ut in diúrnis áctibus
Nos servet a nocéntibus.
Linguam refrénans témperet,
Ne litis horror ínsonet:
Visum fovéndo cóntegat,
Ne vanitátes háuriat.
Sint pura cordis íntima,
Absístat et vecórdia;
Carnis terat supérbiam
Potus cibíque párcitas.
Ut, cum dies abscésserit,
Noctémque sors redúxerit,
Mundi per abstinéntiam
Ipsi canámus glóriam.
Deo Patri sit glória,
Ejúsque soli Fílio,
Cum Spíritu Paráclito,
Nunc et per omne sǽculum.
Amen.
Now in the sun's new dawning ray,
Lowly of heart, our God we pray
That he from harm may keep us free
In all the deeds this day shall see.
May fear of him our tongues restrain,
Lest strife unguarded speech should stain:
His favouring care our guardian be,
Lest our eyes feed on vanity.
May every heart be pure from sin
And folly find no place therein:
Scant need of food, excess denied,
Wear down in us the body's pride.
That when the light of day is gone,
And night in course shall follow on.
We, free from cares the world affords,
May chant the praise that is our Lord's.
All laud to God the Father be,
All praise, Eternal Son, to thee:
All glory, as is ever meet,
To God the holy Paraclete.
Amen.

The Third of March. The twenty-fifth day of the moon. In the year of our Lord 2027.
At Caesarea, in Palestine, the holy Martyrs Marinus, a soldier, and Asterius, a Senator, in the persecution of Valerian. Of these, the former, when accused by his fellow soldiers as a Christian, and when asked by the judge, declared in a very clear voice that he was a Christian, and received the crown of martyrdom by beheading; and when Asterius received the body of the Martyr, decapitated, on his own shoulders and spread under it the garment he was wearing, he immediately received in return the honor he rendered to the Martyr, and became a Martyr himself.
At Calahorra, in Spain, the heavenly birthday of the holy Martyrs Emeterius and Chelidonius, brothers, who, while serving in the army at León, a city of Galicia, both, as the storm of persecution arose, departed as far as Calahorra for confessing the name of Christ, and there, afflicted with many torments, were crowned with martyrdom.
On the same day, the passion of Saints Felix, Luciolus, Fortunatus, Marcia, and their Companions.
Likewise, the holy soldier Martyrs Cleonicus, Eutropius, and Basiliscus, who, in the persecution of Maximian, under the Governor Asclepiades, triumphed blessedly through the punishment of the cross.
At Brescia, Saint Titianus, Bishop and Confessor.
At Bamberg, Saint Cunegundis, Empress, who, wedded to the holy Emperor Henry the First of the Romans, preserved perpetual virginity with his consent; and, laden with the merits of good works, rested in a holy death, and after her passing became renowned for miracles.
℣ And elsewhere of many other holy Martyrs and Confessors, and holy Virgins.
℟ Thanks be to God.
℣ Precious in the sight of the Lord.
℟ The death of his Saints.
May holy Mary and all the Saints intercede for us to the Lord, that we may merit to be helped and saved by him, who lives and reigns for ever and ever.
℟ Amen.
