Hymnus
Jam lucis orto sídere,
Deum precémur súpplices,
Ut in diúrnis áctibus
Nos servet a nocéntibus.
Linguam refrénans témperet,
Ne litis horror ínsonet:
Visum fovéndo cóntegat,
Ne vanitátes háuriat.
Sint pura cordis íntima,
Absístat et vecórdia;
Carnis terat supérbiam
Potus cibíque párcitas.
Ut, cum dies abscésserit,
Noctémque sors redúxerit,
Mundi per abstinéntiam
Ipsi canámus glóriam.
Deo Patri sit glória,
Ejúsque soli Fílio,
Cum Spíritu Paráclito,
Nunc et per omne sǽculum.
Amen.
Now in the sun's new dawning ray,
Lowly of heart, our God we pray
That he from harm may keep us free
In all the deeds this day shall see.
May fear of him our tongues restrain,
Lest strife unguarded speech should stain:
His favouring care our guardian be,
Lest our eyes feed on vanity.
May every heart be pure from sin
And folly find no place therein:
Scant need of food, excess denied,
Wear down in us the body's pride.
That when the light of day is gone,
And night in course shall follow on.
We, free from cares the world affords,
May chant the praise that is our Lord's.
All laud to God the Father be,
All praise, Eternal Son, to thee:
All glory, as is ever meet,
To God the holy Paraclete.
Amen.

Psalm 23 [1]
23:1 The earth and all its fullness belong to the Lord: * the whole world and all that dwells in it.
23:2 For he has founded it upon the seas, * and he has prepared it upon the rivers.
23:3 Who will ascend to the mountain of the Lord? * And who will stand in his holy place?
23:4 The innocent of hands and the clean of heart, * who has not received his soul in vain, nor sworn deceitfully to his neighbor.
23:5 He will receive a blessing from the Lord, * and mercy from God, his Savior.
23:6 This is the generation that seeks him, * that seeks the face of the God of Jacob.
23:7 Lift up your gates, you princes, and be lifted up, eternal gates. * And the King of Glory shall enter.
23:8 Who is this King of Glory? * The Lord who is strong and powerful; the Lord powerful in battle.
23:9 Lift up your gates, you princes, and be lifted up, eternal gates. * And the King of Glory shall enter.
23:10 Who is this King of Glory? * The Lord of virtue. He himself is the King of Glory.
℣ Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
℟ As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, * world without end. Amen.
Psalm 18(2-7b) [2]
18:2 The heavens describe the glory of God, * and the firmament announces the work of his hands.
18:3 Day proclaims the word to day, * and night to night imparts knowledge.
18:4 There are no speeches or conversations, * where their voices are not being heard.
18:5 Their sound has gone forth through all the earth, * and their words to the ends of the world.
18:6a He has placed his tabernacle in the sun, * and he is like a bridegroom coming out of his bedroom.
18:6b He has exulted like a giant running along the way; * (7a) his departure is from the summit of heaven.
18:7b And his course reaches all the way to its summit. * Neither is there anyone who can hide himself from his heat.
℣ Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.

18:9 The justice of the Lord is right, rejoicing hearts. * The precepts of the Lord are brilliant, enlightening the eyes.
18:10 The fear of the Lord is holy, enduring for all generations. * The judgments of the Lord are true, justified in themselves:
18:11 desirable beyond gold and many precious stones, * and sweeter than honey and the honeycomb.
18:12 For, indeed, your servant keeps them, * and in keeping them, there are many rewards.
18:13 Who can understand transgression? † From my hidden faults, cleanse me, O Lord, * (14a) and from those of others, spare your servant.
18:14b If they will have no dominion over me, then I will be immaculate, * and I will be cleansed from the greatest transgression.
18:15a And the eloquence of my mouth will be so as to please, * along with the meditation of my heart, in your sight, forever,
18:15b O Lord, my helper * and my redeemer.
℣ Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
℟ As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, * world without end. Amen.

The Twelfth of May. The twenty-fifth day of the moon. In the year of our Lord 2026.
At Rome, the Lesser Litanies at Saint John Lateran.
At Rome, on the Ardeatine Way, the holy martyrs Nereus and Achilleus, brothers, who first endured a long exile on the island of Pontia for Christ, together with Flavia Domitilla, of whose household they were eunuchs; afterwards they were severely beaten; then, when they were compelled by the consular Minutius Rufus with the rack and with flames to sacrifice and they declared that, having been baptized by blessed Peter the Apostle, they could by no means sacrifice to idols, they were beheaded. Their sacred relics, along with those of Flavia Domitilla, were solemnly translated from the deaconry of Saint Hadrian back to their ancient titular church, where they had formerly been kept and which had been newly restored, on the day before this feast, by order of Pope Clement VIII; who thereupon decreed that the feast of blessed Domitilla herself, Virgin, whose passion is commemorated on May 7, should also be celebrated on this day.
Likewise at Rome, on the Aurelian Way, Saint Pancras, Martyr, who, being fourteen years of age, under Diocletian, completed his martyrdom by beheading.
At Salamis, in Cyprus, Saint Epiphanius, Bishop, who, excelling in manifold learning and knowledge of the sacred Scriptures, was also to be marveled at for holiness of life, zeal for the Catholic faith, generosity toward the poor, and the power of miracles.
At Constantinople, Saint Germanus, Bishop, outstanding in learning and virtues, who with great boldness rebuked Leo the Isaurian when he was promulgating an edict against the sacred images.
At Trier, Saint Modoaldus, Bishop.
At Rome, Saint Dionysius, who was the paternal uncle of holy Pancras, Martyr.
At Agira, in Sicily, Saint Philip the Priest, who was sent by the Roman Pontiff to that same island of Sicily and converted a great part of it to Christ. His holiness is most manifestly declared in the freeing of those possessed by demons.
In the city of Calzada, in Spain, Saint Dominic, Confessor.
℣ And elsewhere of many other holy Martyrs and Confessors, and holy Virgins.
℟ Thanks be to God.
℣ Precious in the sight of the Lord.
℟ The death of his Saints.
May holy Mary and all the Saints intercede for us to the Lord, that we may merit to be helped and saved by him, who lives and reigns for ever and ever.
℟ Amen.

The Our Father is said silently as far as And lead us not into temptation:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name: thy kingdom come: thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread: and forgive us our trespasses, as we also forgive those who trespass against us:

Let us pray.
Be pleased to direct and sanctify, to rule and to govern, O Lord God, King of heaven and earth, this day our hearts and our bodies, our senses, our words, and our actions, in your law and in the works of your commandments: that here and in eternity, with your help, we may merit to be saved and free, O Savior of the world: who live and reign for ever and ever.
